First click here: www.tncrimeonline.com You might want to maximize that screen but keep this one open so you can toggle back and forth between the two.
Under the folder called "TIBRS Victim Data", click on the report called "Victim Type by Offense". The report will run and you will see the table that has information on all of Tennessee. It lists all of the different victim types across the top (column headings) and the offense types down the left-hand side (Row Headings). Any words that are underlined can be clicked on to see the Dimensions that are selected.
On the report screen you will see a different task bar with different icons.

Clicking on the icons above will show an explanation of what the icon does.
If you click on the
Chart icon,
you will see the same information in the current table. You can change the
type of chart by clicking on the
Chart
Options icon. Go ahead and click on that and let's see this chart as a "3D
Pie". You will notice that each separate victim type has it's own pie.
You are also able to change the information that is used to create the table
or chart. Let's look at the same victim information but only the assault
offenses. To do that, first click on the
icon is
the task bar. Once the page has refreshed, click on the words "Offense
Type" on the left-hand side of the screen. This will display a new screen
that has the different offense types listed. There are 3 main offense
types; Crimes Against Persons, Crimes Against Property and Crimes Against
Society. Since all of the categories are collapsed, click on the
Clear All Members
icon under "All". This will unselect any of the dimensions that are
already selected. Once the screen refreshes, click on the
"Expand" icon next to
Crimes Against Persons (since assaults are in that category). When the
screen refreshes, click on "Aggravated Assault", "Simple Assault",
Intimidation", and "Stalking", these are the assault offenses. After you
have clicked those four items, you can either click the
icon or
the
icon in
the top task bar. Since the offenses selected are Crimes Against Persons,
you will notice that several of the columns have no data. In the task bar,
you will see the
"Supress" Icon.
What this icon does is hide any rows and columns that contain no data, or zeros.
Click on it and you will be asked if you want to Supress rows or columns.
Select "Columns" and click "OK." Now you will see a more concise table or
chart. Again, you can switch between the two by clicking either
or
.
When you are in the Chart view, you can click on any of the individual charts to
enlarge it. Holding your cursor over any part of the chart will show you
the numeric value of that section.
